NASHVILLE, TN – Growing up in the small Georgia community of Crestview, Unincorporated, Columbia Nashville artist Joanna Smith knew she was destined to sing country music. At age five she told a judge at a talent contest, “I am already a country music singer, but I don’t get to get onstage much.” She got to sing on stage that night and has been singing ever since. Now, the sassy singer-songwriter debuts on the national stage with her debut single, “Gettin’ Married.”

“Gettin’ Married” is the story of a single woman who is holding out as she watches all her girlfriends tie the knot. “ It’s a girls-night-out type song. It’s fun and a little irreverent,” Joanna says. “The song really wrote itself. Jeffrey Steele Tom Hambridge, and I had just finished writing and we were trying to schedule a time to get together again. I mentioned I couldn’t because I had to go home and be in a wedding and that all my girlfriends are gettin’ married, and Jeffrey said, ‘That’s a song, let’s write it!’ So we did, right then and there.”

While Joanna always knew she wanted to be a country music singer, the journey to Nashville came after she spent a year at Auburn University. Once she moved to Nashville, she landed herself a steady gig at the World Famous Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge. She’s played there regularly for the past four years -- “It was the school of hard knocks and I got my degree!”

Along with her “degree from Tootsie’s” Joanna has some impressive recommendations on her resume from artists like Miranda Lambert who exclaimes, “I love what she does! frills or fuss...another kick-ass chick!” and Patty Loveless who says, “Joanna sings with such a pure heart and an honest passion.”
