Carrie Underwood’s Some Hearts Hits Four-Million Milestone!
“Before He Cheats” Is #1 Country Single for Second Consecutive Week as Carrie Is Named CMA Female Vocalist of the Year

Nashville, TN – Newly crowned CMA Female Vocalist of the Year Carrie Underwood claims yet another remarkable career milestone with the RIAA Quadruple-Platinum certification of her 19 Recordings/Arista Nashville debut album, Some Hearts. Carrie joins Gretchen Wilson as the only solo female country artist in the past decade to release a debut album achieving the four-million-selling landmark.

On the news, Carrie reflects, “There are so many people that have done so much – songwriters, producers, all the people at the label. Country radio has been awesome to me, and they’ve played my music, and people have requested my songs and bought the albums and seen me in concert. I mean, it takes eight-million people to sell four-million copies! It’s just amazing what everybody has accomplished.”

The certification arrives just shy of a year of the album’s November 15, 2005 release, when Carrie celebrated the occasion with a stunning performance of her debut country single, “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” on the 2005 CMA Awards broadcast.

“Jesus, Take the Wheel” went on to spend six weeks at #1, becoming the first of three consecutive #1 country singles, followed by “Don’t Forget to Remember Me” and the nation’s current chart-topper for two straight weeks, “Before He Cheats,” which just earned a People’s Choice Award nomination for Favorite Country Song, while Carrie has also been nominated as Favorite Female Singer.

“Before He Cheats” actually becomes the Checotah, Oklahoma beauty’s fourth single to hit #1, with the inclusion of her pop smash, “Inside Your Heaven,” which was Carrie’s first single following her American Idol victory and included as a bonus track on Some Hearts.

The sales success of Some Hearts continues this week, as it makes a 21% unit sales leap, landing at #2 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums, where the disc has now spent an incredible 49 of its 51 chart weeks inside the country Top 5, including 15 weeks at #1.

Carrie continues to be warmly embraced by fans and industry, as well, earlier this year earning two ACM awards, including Top New Female Vocalist. On Monday, The 40th Annual CMA Awards brought another wonderful night for Carrie with a performance of “Before He Cheats” and a potent double win, garnering not only the CMA’s prestigious Horizon Award, but also earning a remarkable show of acceptance from the country music industry, which honored her as Female Vocalist of the Year – a true sign of appreciation and respect for a young artist and first-time category nominee.
